The AHF229 Group2/DTM heat exchanger is inspired by those seen on European factory entries during the late 70’s and all the way through in to the 90’s. Those teams had what appeared to be unlimited budgets, and the fabricated parts were fantastic! Our modern interpretation uses the very latest in raw materials and cores, while retaining traditional fabrication and welding methods.
The heat exchanger will allow the engine oil to warm up faster from startup, as the oil is brought up to temperature at a similar rate to the coolant, and when the ideal operating temperature has been reached it will keep the oil temperature typically at a consistent 8 – 10 ºC above the water temperature.
Temperature spikes on track are typically handled better too, the heat exchanger tends to ‘soften’ sudden changes in oil temperature lap to lap.
The heat exchanger features 32mm push on connections, popular with Ford/Vauxhall/Opel/BMW/Mercedes engines. The oil connections are the now industry standard AN12 male union.
Four M6 female bosses are attached to the unit for mounting. Alternatively the unit can be cradled with a fabricated tray, not supplied.
