This water cooled heat exchanger is for those running Millington engines and any other engines using multi stage scavenge oil pumps.
This heat exchanger will allow the engine to warm up faster from switch on, and when the ideal operating temperature has been reached it will keep the temperature at a consistent 8 – 10 ºC above the water temperature.
This will improve reliability and offer consistent performance over the length of the event.
There is more plumbing involved with this method, and the water radiator used will have to be able to dissipate the extra heat, because the heat exchanger takes the hot oil from the scavenge pump straight into the radiator’s top inlet. But if the radiator has been designed correctly there will be no problem.
